Frequently Asked Questions
What time is check-in? Check-in is staggered on our first day of camp. The first check-in time will be at 1 pm and the later check in time is at 4 pm. You will receive your assigned check in time once your full registration has been paid. Check out will also be a staggered check out with half of the camp leaving at 11 am and the remainder leaving at 12 pm on the last day. You will receive your check out time upon full payment as well.
Will my girls earn a badge at camp? Yes, they will. We will provide badges to the troop during check out. When we say all inclusive, we mean it! We have activities for all ages as well.
What if we need to bring more adults? Troops are limited to adults according to ratio plus one over. If you can not make the trip without the extra adult please contact the directors. Overage adults must pay the full price of a girl participant.
Can Leaders participate? Of course, you can! We do ask that you help out with discipline and management, please take time to enjoy yourself at the stations as well.
On average, What should my girls pack? Troops will be sent a packing list. Girls should pack extra layers as it can be cool at night at MMR. Please limit the smelly times that you do bring as well. Packing lists will be sent out in the individual electronic forms by May 9.
Are there Bears? MMR is in Allenspark and borders the Rocky Mountain National Park. We have wildlife around the camp. While there are bears in the local area, we do everything to prevent bears from wandering around camp. One of those preventive measures is our bear boxes where any smelly items (soap, toothpaste) are stored.
What's the weather like? The weather can vary at camp especially overnight. We tend to have cooler temps at night. During the day, our temps range from 70's to high 80's.
Should I bring Snacks? Do NOT bring food to camp. Random food in cars and tabins can attract wildlife. If you have concern about allergies or dietary restrictions, then we will put you in contact with our food service. We do provide a midday snack to every one at camp during our full sessions.
What if my camper has a food allergy? We are use to catering to some food allergies like gluten, nuts, and dairy. We also have vegetarian options as well. If you have a food allergy outside of the scope listed, then food service will be in touch to best accommodate you or your camper.
Is there cell phone service? There is no cell phone service at camp. We have an office phone available strictly for emergencies only.
What about First Aid and Medicine? Each troop should have their own first aider. The first aider should bring a first aid kit with her and carry it with her around camp. In addition, the first aider is responsible for administering medicine for the girls in the troop.
Whats a biffy? A biffy is a bathroom in the forest for you. Each unit does have biffy for the troops who are staying there. Each Bathroom station does have a hand-washing and hand sanitizing unit.
Whats a Tabin? Basically its a cabin with wood roof, floor, half walls with top half of walls made of canvas. Troops will be assigned tabins during their stay. Leaders can preassign the girls with whom they will be sharing a cabin with during their stay. In a unit, there are between 5 - 8 tabins. Leaders are within earshot of their girls at all times. Leaders usually sleep in a tabin that is centrally located so their girls are only about 1 tabin away.
Will I get to Shower? Core Camp 1 will not shower during their stay. Core Camp 2 will have showers built into their schedule.
Do we cook out or eat in the lodge? Troop will have the opportunity to cook out one dinner using a fire or propane stoves. The remainder of the meals will all be served in the dining hall. The meals in the dining hall will be individually plated and there is special care taken with dietary restrictions as well. During Lunch and Dinner, there will always be salads available as well that are individually plated too. Those with dietary restrictions will be sent out a menu prior to camp so we can make sure that we can meet their need.

What level of physical activity is there? Remember MMR is in the mountains. You will be hiking around the camp some and there are some hilly spots. On average campers and leaders will walk about 2 to 3 miles a day while at camp so bring some sturdy shoes.
What kind of footwear is recommended? Tennis or Hiking Shoes. Crocs and sandals of any kind are not allowed at camp.
Will campers be sharing a Tabin with their leaders? All adults will sleep in a tabin and the girls will sleep in a separate cabin within the unit. All tabins are preassigned.
What is a Tajar? He is something like a tiger, something like a badger, and something like a jaguar. And he's magical. The rest you have wait until Core Camp.
Will troop members always be in the same group? Troops will be in one cohort this year along with another troop. Troops will participate in all activities together this year.
Can I get a refund? Refunds are only issued up until June 1 for medical and family (death in the family) reasons. We do not offer full refunds for medical and family reasons because of the materials and supplies that have been purchased after May 15. You must contact [email protected] to request a refund within the permitted time.
